Pineapple Express
When you think of stoner flicks, you immediately relate to a light hearted comedy with a just random funny things placed in for a laugh. At first Pineapple Express had all this and with it came a very thin plot line but that doesn’t matter, its a stoner flick, that’s what you expect. Immediatly i thought it might be like every other movie that Seth Rogan had been in, based on the fucked up life of some loser who either tries to help him self or others…unsuccessfully. Pineapple express had this but it tried to hold onto a seriousness that it didn’t need, it wasn’t like Knocked Up where the seriousness was very funny and a happy ending was needed to wrap the film up nicely.
Pineapple express towards the end of the film started to focus more on friendship and became quiet serious, they were trying to thicken the plot. With this though they lost the comedic aspect of the film and it just became a poorly done action film. It also became gory and the fighting sequences were not funny like they should have been.
All in all it had potential as just a stoner flick but they had to stuff that up by making it serious and the ending was just pathetic i thought they were all going off to have a gay orgy or something. For me i love stoner flicks just because of they are random pineapple express didn’t do it for me. Dont get me wrong though there were good bits through it i just thought they didn’t need some of the stuff that they left in it.
